Hellooooo! Let's chat about a remarkable celebrity homebirth story that unfolded last week ( July 6th) - that of Ferne McCann, star of The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE).
When Ferne first became a mum to her daughter Sunday, she sought guidance from me and my hypnobirthing programme. I was fortunate to be her teacher and doula, supporting her through this transformative journey.
Hypnobirthing is incredible childbirth education,focused on empowering parents-to-be with knowledge and confidence. The best part is - this isn't a one-off deal. The wisdom you gain stays with you forever. So when Ferne was ready to welcome her second baby this July, all she had to do was brush up her skills with a hypnobirthing refresher.
Hypnobirthing is all about making birth a positive journey, reducing fear and tension that can stall the birthing process. Ferne wholeheartedly embraced this approach during her first pregnancy and built a beautiful trust in her body's natural ability to birth. This confidence led her to make the bold decision to have a homebirth for her second child.
Despite the usual bumps along the road, Ferne's optimism never wavered. Chatting to OK! Magazine, she shared, "I got the home birth I wanted, however it’s nothing like how I imagined it. My life never goes to plan, so you’ve just got to go with it." Isn't that just the spirit we strive for with hypnobirthing? Flexibility and acceptance of the unpredictable!
Speaking of unpredictability, let's talk about how she named her baby. Ferne had been smitten with the name Finty, meaning "pure", since her first pregnancy. It's a delightful English name, and as it turns out, it’s also Judi Dench’s daughter’s nickname! Ferne felt a deep connection to the name, sharing that "I just feel so connected to the name – she came out and she was just Finty. I think she sounds like a character out of Bridgerton."
